Happy Wednesday everyone!

Lately I have been really into Polyvore - I used to post outfits almost every day but I fell out of the habit since I graduated college and only posted once in a blue moon. I've been playing around with different social media sites lately (Polyvore, Tumblr, and Instagram) and have really gotten the blogging itch back! Here's some of my recent outfits - not sure if  I should keep the dates on the images or remove them... thoughts?

I would really like to post "real" outfit photos one day but I don't feel comfortable in front of a camera nor do I have all of the photography skills and tools on hand to achieve the images I would want to produce. Guess I should play around with my camera instead of social media sites, huh?! If you have any tips for beginners please let me know!

Festive for the Fourth

Hi everyone!

Happy Fourth of July to everyone in America and Happy Friday to everyone outside of the U.S.! I hope everyone is having a great day and has plans for a great weekend.

I have to work this evening, so I planned a patriotic outfit for work and a bottoms swap to go watch fireworks with my family! We got a pass to go to a local fireworks show and Fourth of July "festival" so it's going to be a little different than our backyard barbecue and driveway fireworks watching!

I recently tried the fluted skirt and I absolutely LOVE it! I can't wait to wear it, and it looks great with the striped sweatshirt! I might actually have to wear jeans at night though - it's been very cool for the past few days. Sweatshirts in July, how weird.

Summer of Sundresses

Hey everyone! 

Something I've been gravitating towards this summer more than ever is wearing dresses. Most summers I am totally content with shorts, but this summer I have been opting for dresses more and more... so often that sometimes I run out of dresses to wear! Recently I had a whole day free for some solo shopping and this is what I wore!

While shopping, I tried on this dress at Old Navy. Seriously obsessed! I brought an entire armful of dresses into the dressing room - this was the only one to get a solo shot but you can see a couple of my other favorites in the shot below! I didn't end up purchasing the dress that day (I wanted to wait for a promo code or sale) but last week it made its way into my shopping cart and is now en route to me!

Like I said, I found a lot of favorites on that shopping trip. Between my in store trip and my search online, I've compiled a list of my current favorites - and they all happened to be blue! I tried on the patterned maxi and the solid tank dress in store; both dresses are absolutely fab. I loved the fit and styling of both! The others are ones I would have to try on when I find them in stores but I will have my eye on them until then.

I can't wait to wear my new dresses and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for easy sundresses on the cheap now that summer is over! Plus, when it gets cooler out I can throw a denim jacket over it and some boots and cozy socks!

Summer Whites + A Pop of Color

Hey everyone!

Since I have been traveling so much this summer, I've tried to pack and wear outfits that give me a lot of style for not a lot of space in my bag. Everywhere I go, I pack my denim shorts from Old Navy, some basic white tees from J.Crew, classic accessories, and simple shoes. Since the same few items get a little bit repetitive, I've been picking up white tops with special details like eyelet or cutouts and pairing them with some statement jewelry. It's easy to forget to pack and wear jewelry, so I make sure to leave it out where I can see it and remember to put it on! I also don't pack anything too elaborate, so it's often a leopard print bangle, a colorful cuff, or a bubble necklace that I can throw on with any outfit and make it a little more special.

Below is an outfit I wore to work last weekend! I love this eyelet top - I bought it right after I cut my hair earlier this summer when I found out I could pull off some outfits I wouldn't wear with long hair! It's super lightweight and doesn't require an extra tank underneath (a godsend in hot weather), plus the eyelet detail makes it special. I threw on a bubble necklace for a quick burst of color, and I was all set to go!

Lately...

Hey everyone!

Sorry things have been quiet on here lately... I zipped home to be with my dad when he had a surgery last week (all went well!) and then headed straight back to Wisconsin to work all weekend and close the store this week. With a three day street sale (long days + a lot of customers) and now helping my managers close the store (long days + lots of boxes) I've just been exhausted once I get home! Check out what I wore for my last day of work below.

I've also been struggling with planning my next move in my life. My lease at my current apartment ends in 3 weeks (eek!) and while I wait to hear back about a full time job (... I was supposed to hear back last week but nothing yet) it is time to start thinking about what I will be doing. Well, technically I guess I should have started a long time ago, but better late than never. I think I want to stay in this area for now, so I need to do some research on a new apartment/rent, parking, and jobs.... and then talk to my parents about what's next. I think I know of some openings at a store within the company I am currently employed for so I might be able to find something to do for a few months. It's just difficult for me to reconcile where I thought I would be at this point in life versus where I am in reality, as well as balance what all of my loved ones want for me with what I want to do and what will make me happy.

I believe today will be my last real day at the store. Yesterday we packed up all of the merchandise, visual supplies, and fixtures upstairs and prepared them to get shipped back to our corporate offices or other stores, and today we will be watching these things get put onto a truck while we dismantle the office, break room, and stock room. It's incredibly strange to see the store completely stripped down, and thinking about it reminds me of what else in my life is (or might be...) coming to a close. It might be the end of my time at the store, but I hope I am able to find other opportunities within the company or in the city so I don't have to leave quite yet. Fingers crossed.

Spring Break Outfits!

Happy Friday everyone!

My Spring Break starts today (well, mine started yesterday since I don't have classes on Friday) and once I'm done working tomorrow, I'm heading home! This year I get to do something a little bit different and spending a few days in Florida with my boyfriend and his family. He and I will be there for 3 full days and we're going to be going to Disney World and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal. It's going to be much warmer in Florida than it will be in Wisconsin or Illinois so I'm pretty excited. Unfortunately there does seem to be some rain on the forecast but fingers crossed it won't be too bad. Anyways, here's what I'm planning on packing and wearing for all of the days. 

As you can see, I'm carrying on a Vera Bradley duffle and a Longchamp bag. I might throw in a sundress in case we go somewhere nice but I'm not sure I'll need it. A chambray shirt and chino shorts might make their way into my bag as well but I'll keep you posted on that!
